| Shavedlegs Campagnolo vs. shimano |
Okay, how long is a piece of string?
It is quite possible to argue this one either way for a long time. Both systems work very well, Campagnolo
hides the cables which a lot of people like, Shimano hoods are preferred by some.It is all personal
preference but below
is a quick guide to each. By the way, Record is the best.

| Shifters |
Probably the first thing we assess when examining a bike. There are also probably the most important if all things are equal because they are the main interface
between rider and the groupset. How your hands feel and how comfortable you are with the different methods of shifting is very important.
It is possible to adapt from one to the other, but most people stick with what they have had in the past. Old dog/new tricks. |

CAMPAGNOLO ERGOPOWER 10S CONTROLS
The Campagnolo ErgoPower stand out with their fine carbon levers. This may save weight, but not much, it certainly
looks fantastic. However they are easy to chip.
The big difference between the manufacturers is how they shift. The ErgoPowers require a little more pressure but less
movement this should make shifting quicker. It is possible to move 5 sprockets in a single shift, which can be very useful.
Shifting up is sprung to add strength to the action, making it easier and very fast.
The ErgoPowers marked just 339 g on our scale. If you don’t climb fine, don’t blame it on them...
Everything in the ErgoPower is thought to provide a reliable, ultra fast shifting, and, even when its action is light and
pleasant, you will always notice a shift is done.

SHIMANO STI LEVERS
Okay, so Campagnolo have the best looking lever thanks to some nice carbon, Shimano STI's look incredibly good too and will be more durable.
The action is really smooth, it is easy to control braking and shifting is very straight forward. Only minimal effort
is required to shift up a sprocket, not only can you can feel when the shift has completed but there is a satisfying click.
A major diference to the Campagnolo Ergopower is that you can only move one sprocket at a time, so if you suddenly need to shift
up a lot, then you need some quick fire finger flipping.
